How to make wine with 10 Simple Steps

What is wine? It’s a fermented fruit liquid that has a great taste, smell, and a little amount of alcohol. Making wine at home is not that difficult.

Provided you have the right tools and knowledge by your side. So here is what you would need to make your great wine at home.

  • One 4-gallon food-grade-quality plastic bucket and lid to serve as the primary fermentation vat
  • Three 1-gallon glass jugs to use as secondary fermentation containers
  • A funnel that fits into the mouth of the glass bottles
  • Three airlocks (fermentation traps)
  • A rubber cork (or bung) to fit into the secondary fermentation container
  • Large straining bag of nylon mesh
  • About 6 feet of clear half-inch plastic tubing
  • About 20 wine bottles (you'll need 5 bottles per gallon of wine)
  • Number 9-size, pre-sanitized corks
  • Hand corker (ask about renting these from the wine supply store)
  • A Hydrometer to measure sugar levels

Apart from the stuff listed above, you would also need wine yeast, wine grapes, sugar, and clean filtered water. The steps are not that hard to follow. Just ensure that everything is sterilized and clean.

You have to check the grapes well, just be sure that none of them are rotten as they would screw up the fermentation mix. Crush the grapes and add the yeast and other ingredients.  Cover them quickly and seal them. By sealing, we mean airtight here. Leave the smash for a few weeks to check the pressure. Once done- carefully filter them into clean wine bottles.

There are many steps in the process, for that you can visit an authentic website or beer blog like beerkans.com. These guys know their beer very well. The blog has been a source of inspiration for me at least. It’s a new blog that they write there makes a lot of sense for sure. So, there is no need to wander, these globe-trotting beer drinkers sure know what they are talking about.

 Final Words

Making your own wine at home is a great way to spend your time productively. It surely does give a lot of mental peace. It’s also a healthy practice especially in these testing times of covid-19. I would surely not venture out to the wine shack for getting a few bottles. With so many Americans getting infected, I would rather make my own wine than take the risk. You are done.
